The founder

Behind plantcare

I'm Luismi Bautista, software engineer and creator of plantcare. I love plants and technology, and I've spent three years working to help them understand each other a little better.

I believe having plants at home should be something you enjoy. But between work, family, travel and everything else on our minds, it isn't always easy to know when to water or whether we're doing it right. I wanted caring for a plant to be simpler, also for those who have never had a green thumb.

That's how plantcare was born. I've been building it alongside my job, between designs, 3D-printed parts and lots of testing. Today I prepare the first orders myself. I want more people to be able to keep plants at home without watering being one more thing to worry about.

The story
I loved plants, but in my hands they never lasted more than six months. I never found anything beautiful and functional that solved it, so I thought: what if I build it myself?
How it all begins

I learn to 3D print, get better at electronics design and learn a lot about plants and botany. plantcare keeps growing as a product: little by little my plants water themselves, and their survival rate is more than acceptable.

I get through my first summer with almost all my plants surviving. There's still a lot to build and learn, but it's clear the product is real.
